The 50th Reunion of the 210th Class of Central High School

Gentlemen:

The 50th reunion is history!  For those of you who did not have the opportunity to attend one or all of the functions this past weekend you missed out on a wonderful experience.  Our visit to the school brought back many of the memories of “our alma mater true”.  The visit confirmed the continued viability and visibility of the school.  The academic level surpasses that of our era and its current diversity has expanded the horizons of the student body.  The students who greeted us exuded enthusiasm for academics, community, sports and CHS.  It was a wonderful day.  Our reception and dinner the following evening was another success – good talk, camaraderie, and the inevitable singing of “Central High” a.k.a. “Dear High” which was lead by our own Burton Eisenberg.  Many thanks to the reunion committee who worked diligently to make this reunion the best ever.

As a result of various fund raisings this weekend we have increased our 210th Class Scholarship Fund by almost $3,000.  The fund is now at the $21,000 level.  Every year at commencement a cash prize will be awarded to a deserving graduating senior.  The amount of the prize will vary as it is based on the return on the invested funds.  It can and will grow because of contributions from our classmates.  We now have future pledges that will push the fund over the $100,000 level.  Making a tax deductable contribution is simple.  Forward your check made payable to “AACHS – 210 Scholarship Fund” to my attention at the address below.

Now for some administrative items:

  • The CHS annual alumni dinner will be held the 9th of June.  If you are local please come out and support the association.  The guest speaker for the evening will be The Honorable Michael Nutter, Mayor of the City of Philadelphia .  If you will be attending the dinner let me know and I will try to reserve a table for the 210th Class.
  • Moving or Change of ISP – please make a effort to advise of your change of mailing address or a change of e-mail address.  This will insure that you do not become one the classmates on the “whereabouts unknown” list.
  • If you received and read the Spring 2008 Alumni Journal you will find that there is never anything about the 210th Class in the “Class Notes” section.  In the future please forward any relevant news about yourself, a family member or a classmate.  It will be forwarded to the alumni association for inclusion in the next Journal.
  • Continue to visit our class website at www.chs-210.com – the site is being maintained and updated continually for your use.

In conclusion a final observation: the four years that we attended Central has contributed heavily to making us who we are today.  Based on the faces seen this past weekend I have to say CHS had a marvelous impact on all of our classmates.

Be well, and stay in touch.

Paul
